¶ Step 1 - Attend your first event and join in on the fun! **Important**
- Click on the Events tab on the top bar of our site to see the events that are available to you. We use this page to sort the different events scheduled, though most people sort by casual and spend their time in casual events for their game, as they are open to all.
- Events are hosted in a custom channel on our Discord server, so if you RSVP and show up to the event channel on time, you will be given REP for attending.
- You MUST attend an LM Welcome event within 10 days of joining DI! Failure to do so will result in your profile becoming inactive. LM Events
- The Crash Course Events are held regularly by Cohort Managers and will give you a crash course of everything you'll need to know during your Initiation period. The events also give you a chance to meet with Cohort Managers directly and ask questions or raise any concerns you may have. To see when the next one is being held, you can open the Events Page.
- Your Division Staff will help you get more involved with your division and will help you join in on the action, and a Cohort Manager will be available as a backup. Both will be available to answer questions and will check in with you throughout your cohort month to ensure you are progressing as necessary to get better acquainted with Damage Inc.
¶ Step 4 - Check the forums site frequently for events, announcements, and updates. **Important**
- The most critical and important information is shared on our forums site. Checking it daily (or every other day) is key to staying up to date with the latest changes and announcements.
¶ Step 5 - Learn about the Initiate membership and graduate to full member. **Important**
- Your time as an Initiate starts the first day of joining Damage Inc, where you gain access to our quality events and private Discord, but need to prove that you are active enough to meet our requirements (and mature enough to not display any toxicity - see the Justice page for more information).
- The requirements to graduate to a full member are as follows:
- Earn 10+ Discord hours and earn 4+ event hours during your cohort month or possess a Vanguard subscription
- Do not display any toxicity during your Initiation period
- Note that receiving more than 1 behavioral strike or receiving 6+ warning points automatically results in being set to inactive (failing your cohort)
- Pass the end of month full member voting
- 3+ downvotes by other full members will result in failing your cohort
- To check your rep or other stats, like discord hours or recruits, you can visit the Standings and search your name.
- Your cohort month starts the following month you join. (Exp. If you join any time in January then your cohort will be in February.)
- At any point, once you meet the requirements for becoming a full member you'll be graduated by Odin. (This includes if you meet the requirements before your cohort month starts)
- If you fail your first-month cohort you need to have earned 2+ event hours to be given another chance to get a total of 10+ discord hours and 4+ event hours again during your second cohort month. Failure to do this will result in the account being set to inactive.
- If you become inactive you can fill out the initiate application for a Cohort Re-enrollment and try again at any point as long as you have no active behavioral strikes.
- Cohort Honors are the prestigious, best-in-class awards given to the top 3 people who graduated with the most REP during their first Cohort Month. The history of Cohort Honors has been kept since way back in 2013 and can be viewed in full here. These are the legendary and incredibly rare awards:
- First Class Honors
- Second Class Honors
- Third Class Honors
The Member Map has been a key feature of Damage Inc for many years and has inspired many local meet-ups and unofficial events to occur.
¶ Spend time reading through our History and learn about our growth and the legendary members who made us who we are today!
- With a founding date of 23 September 2012, Damage Inc is quite old. It has gone through the highs and lows that come with the challenges of succeeding in the gaming/esports world. Spend time reading about some of the past events and previous members who made a difference to gain some perspective on our culture, who we are, and where we are going.
I joined early in the current month, but my Cohort does not start until next month, can I move to the current month's cohort?
- No. Cohorts are never permitted to be moved forward, however you are able to graduate at any point as soon as you meet the requirements.
I need to take an Away for real-life reasons, how do I ensure I do not get kicked?
- We understand that everyone needs a break sometimes and real life comes first. Learn more about our Away System so that you can easily take a break without worrying about your membership.
What does DND mean?
- DND stands for "Do not Disturb". Never enter or poke the users in a DND channel without being invited.
What does RSVP mean?
- RSVP is a French abbreviation, but in English it translates to "Please respond", meaning that you're being asked whether or not you're going to an event. You are required to RSVP to all Events that you wish to attend (by clicking Going or Maybe on the event's page) and must RSVP before the scheduled start time.
If I leave DI and come back later, do I need to redo the Initiate program?
- You can leave and rejoin Damage Inc at any point, just reapply by joining the discord and following the steps on the welcome page.
- Once accepted back to initiate, you will need to complete the initiate requirements to become member again, unless you are veteran+.
What happens if I fail my Cohort month?
- If you fail your cohort month then you will have more chances to try to pass before your account is set to inactive, but you will only be given more chances if you earn 2+ event hours in your cohort month. If you become inactive you can fill out the initiate application for a Cohort Re-enrollment and try again.
Damage Inc has spent years making our joining process fun, engaging, and informative. However, we know we can always do it better, so if you have ideas or want to share any feedback on how your process is going, you can share any comments or complaints in the initiate helpdesk channel on discord.
